Dongjin Yang studied in Germany and Austria, earning the Konzertdiplom in Piano Performance and Konzertdiplom in Chamber Music from the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, the Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Berlin University of the Arts, and the Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria.

He began his piano studies with his father, Yankai Yang, and continued under the guidance of renowned Chinese educators Prof. Jia Leng and Prof. Pingguo Zhao. During his years in Europe, he studied with internationally celebrated pianists and pedagogues including Margarita Hohenrieder-Dornier, Paul Badura-Skoda, Prof. Martin Hughes (Chair of Piano, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna), Prof. Reiner Becker (Chair of Piano, Berlin University of the Arts), Prof. Peter Waas (former Chair of Piano, Liszt School of Music Weimar), and Prof. Milana Chernyavska (University of Music and Performing Arts Graz). He also received masterclass instruction from eminent piano educators and artists such as Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, Arie Vardi, András Schiff, and Ferenc Rados.

Dongjin Yang has been active as a pianist and educator for many years, performing across Germany, Austria, Italy, China, and other countries. He has appeared repeatedly at the Graz International Arts Week and recorded chamber music albums for the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
​
In 2008, he became a member of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation. In 2009, he won First Prize at the Munich Music and Cultural Arts Competition. In 2015, he performed a featured piano chamber recital at the Brucknerhaus Linz and took part in a concert commemorating the 100th anniversary of Sviatoslav Richter’s birth.

Since returning to China, Yang has served on the Piano Committee of the Shanghai Musicians Association and joined the faculty of the College of Music at Shanghai University. In 2018, he received the Best Artistic Coach Award at the Peacock Vocal Competition. In 2020, he was appointed an Expert Adjudicator for the Ministry of Education’s national community arts initiative “Defying Fate: The Piano Battle—A Public Beethoven Piano Works Project”.

That same year, he released a solo piano album commemorating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth.

Mr. Yang is a Fazioli Global Ambassador and Grotrian (Gaotian) Piano Artist.
